First setup

  1. Connect your TV player and lights to the same trusted local network. Avoid guest networks that isolate devices.
  2. For a supported Govee light, enable LAN Control in the Govee app if that option is available. For WLED, ensure the controller is reachable on your network.
  3. Open OpenAmbi’s Devices menu, discover or configure your lights, then set their positions and colours.
  4. Start capture and approve Android’s screen-sharing prompt. Test with the launcher or other unprotected content first.

A light is missing

Check power, network connectivity and the model’s LAN support. Govee cloud or Bluetooth connectivity alone does not guarantee compatibility. Ethernet and Wi-Fi can work together if the router allows communication between them. Segment control varies by Govee model; some lights use a single averaged colour.

Lights go dark during a movie

Protected video may be hidden from screen capture by Android. OpenAmbi cannot read those pixels or remove that protection. Test an unprotected screen to distinguish this limitation from a light connection problem.

Schedules or auto-start still ask for permission

Pro’s automation options do not bypass Android security. Capture permission, background-start restrictions and device software can prevent unattended operation. Schedule options request capture without opening the main OpenAmbi dashboard, but a system permission prompt may still appear.

Advertising and privacy

Free requests banner ads on Home; Pro has no ad SDK. In Free, Settings → Ad privacy manages data-processing consent, not an ad on/off switch. See the privacy policy for details and deletion options.

Switching editions

Free and Pro are separate apps with separate settings. Back up your configuration before changing editions, clearing data or reinstalling. Do not run capture or LED tests in both editions at once.

Report a problem

Email your OpenAmbi edition/version, TV-player model, Android or Fire OS version, light model, connection type, and the steps that reproduce the issue. If possible, say whether it happens on the launcher as well as during playback.

Only attach screenshots, logs or configuration backups you are comfortable sharing. Remove personal screen content, credentials and unnecessary device/network identifiers first. Never send passwords or signing keys.
