OpenAmbi Free & Pro

Privacy policy

Last updated: 3 September 2026

NASTY develops OpenAmbi Free (com.nasty.openambi.free) and OpenAmbi Pro (com.nasty.openambi). This policy covers both apps and this support website. For privacy questions or requests, contact flexagrime@gmail.com.

The distinction: OpenAmbi processes screen pixels on your device to control local lights. Free also includes a third-party advertising SDK that communicates over the internet. Pro does not include that advertising SDK.

1. Screen capture and light control

With Android’s screen-capture permission, OpenAmbi reads visible screen pixels and calculates colours for your lights. Those pixels can include personal information visible on the screen, so only start capture when you are comfortable sharing the screen with the app.

The lighting pipeline processes frames in memory; it does not save a video recording or upload screen frames to NASTY or the advertising provider. Calculated colour values and device-control commands are sent to configured lights on your local network. OpenAmbi does not record microphone audio. Stop capture from the app or the available Android capture controls to end screen access.

2. Settings, device discovery and diagnostics

The apps discover and communicate with compatible lights on your local network. They keep configuration such as local device addresses and identifiers, device names/models, light placement, calibration, presets and automation settings in local app storage. Free separately stores your advertising consent choice.

Configuration mirrors, exported settings and backups are stored on the device. Diagnostic information, which can include device addresses or identifiers, may appear in Android system logs. OpenAmbi does not automatically send these configuration files or its lighting diagnostic logs to NASTY. If you choose to send them for support, the support section below applies.

Android backup is enabled in the app configuration. Depending on your device and system backup settings, Android or your device provider may back up app data separately from OpenAmbi’s local backups.

3. Advertising in Free

OpenAmbi Free uses Yandex Mobile Ads, which includes AppMetrica. Banner requests can transmit advertising/device identifiers, IP address and technical request information to the provider; ad delivery and measurement involve information about advertising interactions. Processing depends on SDK behaviour, permissions, consent and regional requirements. Screen frames and your light configuration are not supplied to the ad SDK.

OpenAmbi disables SDK location tracking and optional app-ad analytics reporting. This does not mean the SDK makes no network requests or processes no data. Free requests ads on Home while the app is in the foreground. Leaving Home destroys that banner, but does not delete data already processed by the provider.

In Settings → Ad privacy, you can give, decline or withdraw data-processing consent. No consent is the default. The app passes that choice to Yandex before initialization and when you change it. Declining is not an ad-off switch; Yandex’s regional restrictions may limit which ads it supplies. Your device may also offer advertising-ID reset or deletion controls.

See Yandex’s privacy policy, its Mobile Ads data disclosures and consent documentation for provider processing and privacy information. OpenAmbi Pro does not include Yandex Mobile Ads or AppMetrica.

4. Purchases and accounts

OpenAmbi does not require a NASTY account. Pro is a separate paid app. When purchased through an app store, the store handles payment and its own account/transaction data under its privacy policy. The apps do not collect payment-card details. Information you send us about a purchase, such as an order reference, is handled as support correspondence.

5. Support correspondence

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to provide. We use these to respond, investigate the reported problem and manage related requests. Email is handled through Gmail and its service infrastructure. Do not send passwords, private recordings or more diagnostic data than needed.

6. This website

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes connection information, such as IP address, browser/request details and security logs, to deliver and protect the site. Its processing is described in the Cloudflare privacy policy.

The website files contain no advertising, tracking scripts, analytics scripts, contact forms or browser-storage features. Clicking an email link opens your email application; sending a message is your choice. External links lead to services governed by their own policies.

7. Storage, retention and deletion

To request access, correction or deletion of personal information held by NASTY, email flexagrime@gmail.com with the subject “OpenAmbi privacy request”. Describe the request without including unnecessary sensitive information. We may need enough information to verify that a request relates to you. Applicable rights and any required retention depend on your location and circumstances.

8. Security and international processing

Use OpenAmbi only on a trusted network. Light-control protocols may use unencrypted HTTP or UDP on the LAN. Advertising traffic and this hosted website use HTTPS, but no system can guarantee absolute security. Third-party services may process information in countries other than your own, as explained in their policies.

9. Children and policy updates

OpenAmbi is a TV-lighting configuration utility and is not designed specifically for children. If you believe a child has supplied personal information to NASTY, contact us so we can review and address it.

We will update this page when the apps or their data practices change and revise the date above. Where additional notice or consent is required, a policy update alone does not replace it.
